Deep Tissue Massage in South Wimbledon
Slow, firm work through specific muscle layers and adhesions — the appointment for tension that has not shifted in months. £65 for 60 minutes.

Deep Tissue Massage at our South Wimbledon salon
Deep tissue is not simply a harder Swedish massage. The therapist works slowly across and into muscle fibres and the fascia around them, holding pressure on adhesions until they release, which is what makes it effective on a shoulder or lower back that has been tight for months rather than days. Izba Spa's therapists carry over 16 years of experience, and pressure is checked early and adjusted throughout.
Thirty minutes covers back, neck and shoulders — enough for desk tension. Sixty covers full body properly. Ninety allows full body plus concentrated work on one problem area, and is the better booking if you know exactly where the problem is. Deep tissue should feel intense but never sharp: anything that makes you brace or hold your breath is too much, and saying so gets a better result. Expect next-day tenderness similar to post-training soreness, gone within 48 hours.
The South Wimbledon salon is on Kingston Road, a short walk from South Wimbledon Underground station on the Northern line and on the 57, 93, 131 and 219 bus routes. Street parking is available on the surrounding residential roads. Wimbledon town centre, Colliers Wood and Morden are all within ten minutes.
Who it suits
Desk workers with neck and shoulder tension, runners and gym members managing training load, and anyone whose sleep has gone thin from stress.
Aftercare
Drink water, keep the rest of the day gentle, and expect some next-day tenderness after deep tissue — similar to post-training soreness, and gone within 48 hours. A warm bath helps.

Deep Tissue Massage — questions
How much is a deep tissue massage?
A 60 minute massage is £65 at Izba Spa. 30 and 90 minute appointments are also available.
What is the difference between deep tissue and Swedish massage?
Swedish uses lighter flowing strokes to relax. Deep tissue works slowly and firmly into specific muscle layers to release long-standing tightness.
Will deep tissue massage hurt?
It should feel intense but never sharp. Tell your therapist if you are bracing — the pressure is too high and the muscle will not release.
